When it comes to trailer suspension, corrosion protection matters. Whether you’re carting loads across paddocks or backing into boat ramps every weekend, your trailer leaf springs take a beating. Choosing the right finish can make the difference between years of trouble-free towing and constant replacements.
No - not in the traditional sense. While hot-dip galvanising offers excellent corrosion resistance, the high heat of the process can alter the molecular structure of spring steel, making it brittle and unsafe for use in suspension components. That’s why Treadway spring sets are finished using Zinctech - an advanced corrosion-resistant treatment applied at low temperatures to preserve the steel's strength.
Zinctech is a specially formulated zinc-rich coating that provides durable protection against rust and wear. It’s designed to resist moisture, salt, and road grime, making it ideal for demanding environments.
Painted leaf springs are coated with an industrial-grade paint for basic corrosion protection. They perform well in general rural or everyday applications where the trailer isn’t exposed to constant moisture or salt.
